Noon – 4 pm
Coburg Village Auditorium

“Living at Coburg Village is like living on a cruise ship that doesn’t move,” says Coburg Residents’ Association President, Kirk Gleason. That’s because on top of the great food and service, there are a ton of activities always happening at the community. While many events are organized by the Coburg Village Activities Department — such as the multiple music performances and movies each week, visits to the theatre, group trips, etc.—many more activities are provided by a separate organization that works in conjunction with Coburg Village Administration called the Residents’ Association (RA).

The RA is run by Coburg Village residents and funded from events and the minimal resident dues (only $15 for the whole year!). It is made up of 17 committees and includes 9 special events held throughout the year. The RA meets on the first Thursday of every month, and everyone is invited.

September means back-to-school season, but boy, do those school days look different now! It wasn’t all that long ago that many areas only used one-room schoolhouses. Here in Clifton Park, each neighborhood had their own schoolhouse. By the mid 1800s, Clifton Park had 16 school “districts”.

According to the National Institutes of Health, social connections might help you protect your health and may even lengthen your life. Scientists are finding links to others can have powerful effects on our physical and mental health. Whether with family, friends, neighbors, partners, or others, social connections can positively impact our health and sense of wellbeing.

Summer is a great time to hit the road and explore. Meet Coburg Village residents Bob and Carol Langone who after retirement traded their home for and RV and set out on an adventure worthy of Lewis and Clark.

Age is just a number to 90-year-old Coburg Village resident Shirley Cohen. Most mornings you’ll find her power walking outside or through the halls of the community. She participates in almost every fitness class Coburg Village offers, including aerobics, strength training, balance training, and more.

In April 2025, Shirley launched her Facebook Group, Shirley’s 70+ Fitness and Lifestyle group. What started as an outlet for sharing a passion for wellness, quickly turned into a sensation with more than 24,000 followers, and her numbers continue to grow.

As the 4th of July festivities wind down and we settle into our summer activities, it may seem like the 250th anniversary of our country is over; but in fact, the semi quincentennial lasts for a range of years. This year, we celebrated the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, but the military action of the Revolutionary War began in 1775. Our area will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the turning point Battles of Saratoga in 2027, and many other Revolutionary events continued into the 1780s, which means the party continues for the next few years!

Volunteering is associated with lowered chronic inflammation, lowered hypertension, reduced stress, and increased cognitive function and ability to perform daily functions. Meet Ed and Francine Rodger, a Coburg Village couple from Clifton Park, who made volunteering a way of life.
